French government freebies: support available for expats

Hanna Saunders

In France, you are entitled to Mon Compte Formation, which is an annual training budget introduced in 2015.  The program is available to salaried employees who work a minimum of part-time hours and has been also expanded to include self-employed individuals who are registered in France.

The French government set aside €500 a year (up to €800 depending on your industry) for you to use on courses to improve your skills, courses on running a business, learning to drive or learning the language!

The funds are deposited to your training account, not a personal bank account, to ensure the money is spent on education, and you can even carry it over to invest in a more expensive course up to a threshold of between €5,000 - €8,000.

You can read the full terms and conditions here.
